A while back, Julie wrote a prequel to the Bonanza episode, "The Toy Soldier", which guest-starred Morgan as McDermott, a frontier tyrant who secretly pined for a Paiute woman married to a hopelessly alcoholic painter. She became intrigued by how McDermott came by these feelings, and this formed the basis for her story.
